Synopsis
Sainte-Adèle is in mortal danger. A deadly smallpox epidemic is sweeping through the village. Séraphin, now Deputy Minister of Colonization, and Donalda rush back from Quebec City as the death toll rises… Séraphin must manage this crisis to save the Laurentians. Vaccines are on their way from Montreal, but will they arrive in time? Meanwhile, Bidou tries to convince the villagers that the vaccines are dangerous and offers them his own homemade potion instead. What will become of Dr. Cyprien and his wife Angélique, Alexis and Artémise, Arthur, Délima and Oscar, Father Ovide and Victorine, Jos and Caroline, Todore and Georgiana, and all the inhabitants of Sainte-Adèle? Can Séraphin save the village and claim his place as the new King of the North?
As the village continues to mourn Curé Labelle, whom they see as irreplaceable, Monseigneur Fabre sends Curé Caron to restore order in Sainte-Adèle. As the founder of La Croix Noire, a Catholic temperance league, Curé Caron is determined to ban alcohol in the North and force the villagers back to church. Délima is ordered to close the hotel, will she resist? Eager to give their region a fresh new image, the people of the North now risk losing everything with the arrival of the new curé and the devastating smallpox epidemic… Who will come out on top?
