Synopsis

In 2005, after the boozy office party of Primal’s advertising agency, Christian takes Manuela home and the end of the evening gets out of hand... Yet, they continue to work together. Christian even helps Manuela climb the ladder and makes her his partner. However, in 2015, a woman denounces Christian to the police, accusing Christian of sexual assault. In the public eye, Christian is a devoted father, a loving husband, the advertising world idolizes him. But his inner circle benefits from his largesse and a culture of silence holds sway. What spark will give Manuela the strength to confront her trauma and speak for all those who couldn’t? How much longer will Emperor Christian’s domination and reign of terror last? The Emperor addresses the social phenomenon #MeToo which has caused a brutal awakening in our society. The series allowed us to witness the birth of a sexual attacker. Christian has skillfully woven his web, leaving us convinced of his irreproachability and seemingly untarnishable image. Driven by an unwarranted sense of invincibility, he relentlessly tests the boundaries. If no one stops him, who knows how far the Emperor will go ?

2005, that bygone time!

“This is where The Emperor by screenwriter Michelle Allen (Fugueuse, Pour Sarah) begins, telling in nine one-hour episodes the story of the rise of a sexual predator operating in the advertising industry. The plot moves back and forth between 2005, when he strikes for the first time, and 2015, when he falls from his pedestal. Deliberately, the author set her story before the emergence of the #MeToo movement.”
